# advanceSimulation

Advances a running clock by one configured step. A paused clock does not advance.

## Signature

advanceSimulation(clock)
```

## Return value and behavior

A new clock Map with the updated tick and time.

The helper returns a new value. Use set/zet when updating a variable; the earlier value stays unchanged.

## Example

set clock = advanceSimulation(clock)
